About the tournament
The IPL is a professional Twenty20 franchise competition organised in India. Teams play league matches before the leading sides progress to the playoffs. While the league has a regular annual rhythm, each season’s exact fixtures, venues, player availability and start times depend on the final official announcement.
Dates and fixtures
A previously communicated planning window ran from 14 March to 30 May 2027. Subsequent reporting has indicated that the start could move later in March. Treat those dates as provisional until the BCCI/IPL publishes the final IPL 2027 fixture list. We will not list unconfirmed match pairings as official.
Fixture accuracy: Exact team pairings, start times and venue details are shown only after an official schedule release. Do not use provisional windows as confirmed individual fixtures.
Tournament format
The IPL is a T20 tournament with an initial league stage and a postseason. The 2027 playing conditions, final fixture allocation and playoff arrangements should be checked against the published season rules rather than inferred from an older edition.
Teams, squads and captains
Expect established IPL franchises to be involved, subject to official league updates. Squad lists, captains, overseas availability and any auction changes should be added only after confirmed announcements. Avoid assuming last season’s roster is unchanged.
Host countries and venues
The competition is normally staged across Indian cities, but individual host grounds and fixture allocations are not verified here. Official venue announcements will be added with the schedule.
Previous editions and records
Fans often search for past champions, previous finals and record performances. A separate historical section can track verified winners and title records without mixing them with 2027 predictions.
How to follow matches
Browse the Touchcric schedule for listed IPL fixtures and open individual match pages for verified match information and any available viewing options. Availability of video coverage can depend on rights, region and source; a fixture listing is not a guarantee of a live stream.

IPL 2027 at a glance
The Indian Premier League is India’s annual franchise-based Twenty20 competition. Its season combines nationally followed rivalries, overseas talent and a multi-week league phase that leads into the playoffs. The 2027 tournament belongs to a new season, so information from IPL 2026 should not automatically be presented as the final 2027 schedule.
As of 7 November 2026, the complete IPL 2027 match-by-match fixture list is not verified here. The earlier proposed March–May planning window is useful for context, but supporters should wait for an official IPL or BCCI announcement before booking travel or treating any opening-match date as final.

IPL teams and the rivalries fans follow
The league currently lists ten franchises: Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad. This list describes the established IPL franchise lineup, not a guarantee that every captain, player or home venue remains unchanged in 2027.
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have long been central to the league’s title conversation, while established rivalries such as Mumbai versus Chennai, Bengaluru versus Chennai and Kolkata versus Bengaluru attract wide attention. Rivalries can shape a season’s interest, but the actual opponents and fixture dates must come from the published schedule.
Fans following a particular franchise should keep an eye on player retentions, auction or transfer processes, injury updates, international commitments and any new captaincy announcement. These are frequently more important to a team’s expected performance than the previous season’s final table.
How an IPL season progresses
During a typical IPL match, each side is allotted up to 20 overs. The team batting second attempts to reach the target set by the first side. Match outcomes may also depend on weather-related playing conditions, permitted reductions in overs and the competition’s official result rules.
An IPL season usually begins with a league stage in which teams earn points from their results. The playoff stage then decides which contenders reach the final. The precise number of fixtures, league groupings, tie-breakers and playoff arrangements for IPL 2027 must be confirmed from that season’s playing conditions.
League position is not decided by reputation. Wins, points, net run rate and applicable tie-break rules matter, so the table can change rapidly in the final weeks. When Touchcric publishes IPL fixture pages, match previews should explain the context of the points table without claiming that qualification is certain before it is mathematically settled.
Venues, match timings and travelling to IPL matches
IPL fixtures are generally spread across multiple Indian stadiums. Home-ground assignments and any neutral venues for IPL 2027 should only be published once the league confirms them. A familiar city or stadium is not proof that a particular game will be played there.
Start times shown in India Standard Time (IST) are particularly relevant to visitors in India. Fans in Pakistan, the Gulf, Europe and elsewhere should check a timezone conversion for each published match. A televised start time and the toss time are not always the same, so the match page should label both clearly when known.
For spectators, stadium entry rules, ticket release phases, seating maps and weather guidance are best obtained from the competition or its official partners. Links claiming to sell tickets before a legitimate announcement deserve caution.
What to follow before the IPL 2027 opening match
The most useful pre-season updates are the official fixture release, squad registrations, retained players, new signings, captaincy decisions and broadcasting arrangements. Injury-related withdrawals and national-team schedules can also affect who is available for the opening weeks.
Once the fixtures are confirmed, this guide can add a concise schedule table showing the first match, major rivalry fixtures, playoff dates and final. Detailed match-by-match previews should live on separate match pages, rather than repeating the same information in a very long tournament table.
Following fixtures, results and match coverage
This tournament page is intended as a long-term guide, while the Touchcric match schedule is the place to look for individual fixtures listed on the website. As a competition approaches, check the relevant match page for the fixture date, start time, venue, status and pre-match information. A tournament announcement does not mean that every individual match has already been added to the live schedule.
For a completed match, use the Results section. On mobile and tablet, the How to Watch guide explains navigation and common playback problems. Availability of video streams depends on the fixture, region, source and relevant rights; do not assume that every event or match will have a playable stream.
